We are pleased to highlight the results from a clinical study conducted at the Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Policlinico San Matteo Pavia, published in Perfusion, evaluating innovative approaches to brain-targeted temperature control in patients at risk of acute brain injury.

Open pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) carries a high risk of neurological complications due to cerebral hypoperfusion and ischemiaโ€“reperfusion injury. Systemic cooling during extracorporeal circulation may not sufficiently reduce brain temperature. Combining systemic and targeted headโ€“neck cooling may enhance neuroprotection.

Dual-modality cooling combining extracorporeal hypothermia and targeted headโ€“neck cooling improved intraoperative cerebral oxygenation and were associated with lower postoperative NSE levels.

These results align with Neuron Guardโ€™s mission to develop portable and precise solutions for brain protection, designed to bring early neuro-protection directly to the point of care.
